2015 Wild Iris Sauvignon Blanc

2015 was a tough year in the vineyard with the drought causing extremely low production. Thankfully, the decrease in tonnage only increased the quality of the fruit!  It was as if each grape gave its absolute all.

Once in the winery the sticky, yummy juice trickled through the press filling the area with amazing aromatics.  From that moment we knew this Wild Iris Sauvignon Blanc would live up to its reputation.  The outstanding fruit combined with a touch of wood and an extended stirring of the lees assured a refined, while playful Sauvignon Blanc with a warm rich mouthfeel. …Did I tell you, I love this wine!

With aromatics of passion fruit, Meyer lemon and gooseberry, the 2015 Wild Iris feels like a trip to the tropics.  Its sumptuous mouthfeel is first dominated by flavors of pear with a touch of passion fruit and then evolves to include lemon custard with hints of nutmeg and white flowers on the long finish.  Throughout, the bright acidity keeps this Wild Iris very fresh and bright from the first sip to the last.
