2016 Clark-Claudon Estate Cabernet

Growers, vintners and wine writers all agree that the Napa Valley is on a role. 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet is the 5th in a string of amazing vintages. Many say the 2016 is the best yet!

Antonio Galloni’s description of the 2016 vintage is one of the most accurate that I have read. “The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignons are gorgeous wines endowed with striking aromatic intensity, nuance and depth. They have decidedly dark flavor profiles…and voluptuousness…Perhaps most importantly of all, the wines are incredibly delineated in the way they speak to the essence of site…”  I couldn’t agree more.

It is such pleasure to present this wine to you! Let it thrill you as it weaves the story of the picture perfect 2016 growing season at Clark-Claudon Vineyards!

Brilliance in shades of deep shiny ruby and mahogany on the rim encourage a pause as you enjoy the sheer beauty of this wine. The explosion of aromas; lilacs ensconced in dark chocolate, layers of blueberry, graphite & maple syrup, will continue to enhance the experience. Finally, enjoy a dense, but soft entrance, concentrating on the palate with a fine granular tannic frame, with touches of chocolate powder, blackberry, fresh raspberry and Jordan almonds remaining with a long, delicious finish.

"The two reds from this estate are brilliant. The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon comes all from the estate vineyard on the east side of Howell Mountain and was barrel fermented and aged in 80% new French oak. It has a beautiful nose of black cherries, blackberries, pine forest, and dried flowers. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, balanced, nicely concentrated Cabernet that has loads of fruit, good density, and enough ripe tannins to keep it going strong for 15+ years."  94 pts. — Jeb Dunnuck
