THe Story

Given the current drought conditions, it is difficult not to wistfully look back at the 2018 growing season. There were abundant rains in February, ideal clear weather for spring’s bud break and an extended summer of warm days and cool nights without any major heat spikes or fruit damaging rains. These impeccable growing conditions allowed the gentle development of soft tannins, bright acids, and the opulence of perfectly ripe fruit.

TASTING NOTES

Hues of deep, dark maroon with touches of crimson at the rim give an immediate sense of richness and elegance. This is confirmed with a nose of ripe, dark fruit, macerated raspberries, violets, and spice.

The soft, entrance evolves into a dense mid-palate of cassis, memories of handpicked blackberries, plums, and velvet minerality. This lingers towards a dark blackberry reduction with hints of wild violets and sautéed shitake mushrooms on the long, elegant finish. The 2018 Eternity’s, full body and silky well integrated tannins assure a very long life.

REVIEWS

“The 2018 Eternity is dense and concentrated, with a full-bodied, mineral-laced style carrying impressive cassis fruits as well as notes of violets, crushed stone, orange blossom, and freshly sharpened pencils. It’s a classic 2018 that shows the structure and purity of this great vintage. It needs to be forgotten for a least 4-5 years and should have 30 years or more of longevity.  —  Jeb Dunnuck 96 points.
